Conservative Ben Gerard doesn’t understand his 15 year old daughter Christi, who bitterly tries to exert her independence. Christie feels she has taken a back seat to Ben’s business, while Mimi, the wife and mother, tries to saddle the widening gulf between father and daughter during a family “vacation.” Lunch at a lonely rest stop along a western highway is the scene for yet another father/daughter confrontation. The bickering dies away when a wistful stranger, Violet Aldrich, appears. Before long, she plunges the Gerards into a nightmare which forces them to confront their shattering bonds. Is it too late to save the family? Sharp dialogue laced with humor builds the “Hitchcockian” suspense that leads to a shocking ending which will touch any audience.
