This past week, the library has been a happenin’ place!
Then over the weekend, we had two author visits. On Saturday, October 15, author Marilyn June Coffey was here to discuss her book Mail-Order Kid, which focuses on the life of Teresa Martin. Martin arrived in Kansas via the orphan train when she was only three years old. She overcame a life of unthinkable adversity and hardship to raise two children and become a successful librarian.
On Sunday, October 16, author Joanne Emerick discussed the Courage Before Every Danger, Honor Before All Men, the story of the Army Air Corps 31st bomb squadron in World War II. The author is a native of Ness County and currently resides in Hoxie. She worked for 18 years to compile the veterans’ own words and stories into this book which also includes letters, journals, and diaries of the men themselves.
