All through December, stop in and enjoy an exhibit by local photographer Christina Cushing. Her display is titled “Prairie”.
Prairie began a little over two years ago. I am very inspired by relics of a way of life that is becoming harder to find in our modern society. …Some still hang on to that way of life, working the land and caring for it. Not because it is suddenly politically correct but because it was how it was meant to be. Because generations before them passed on the legacy.
These are images taken mostly in the northwest Kansas to the north eastern areas of Colorado and are meant to remind us of a time that is all but slipping away. I dedicate this series to my mother and grandmother, two women who knew how to work and passed that on.
Don’t forget about tomorrow’s Art Walk, starting at 7:00 PM. This is a great opportunity to not only see the display at the library, but exhibits in other Hays galleries.
